Johnson’s Map of the Vicinity of Richmond, and Peninsular Campaign in Virginia Showing also the interesting localities along the James, Chickahominy and York Rivers

The map is dated
1862 and measures 242 (45.72 x 68.58 cm)
The “Johnson” map shows Richmond, Virginia and vicinity during the Civil War.  The map details the Union advance during the Peninsular Campaign and includes detail ranging from nautical depth soundings to individual buildings, wells, and bridges.
The Peninsula Campaign (Peninsular Campaign) was a major Union operation in southeastern Virginia that took place between March and July 1862.  The Campaign was led by Major General George B. McClellan.
The map is in fair condition it is laid down on acid free posterboard and as such the opening bid is set accordingly.
The map is dated and copyrighted ‘entered according to Act of Congress in the Year 1862 by J. Knowles Hare in the Clerks Office of the District Court of the United States of the Southern District of New York.’
